Motivation! It’s something we all strive to have every day and If you can master the art of getting and staying motivated, then get ready for a new dimension of living – living a happy and victorious life despite any negative situations happening around YOU. In the journey of life, we encounter circumstances that tend to knock us off tangent, away from our goals; it could be anything from loss of a job, illness, loss of a loved one, divorce – you just name it – these are things that happen to test our faith and help us get a deeper understanding of who we are as individuals. These are moments that define your strengths, your weaknesses and how you react to circumstances.
Motivation helps us to pick ourselves up when we are down, it fuels goal actualization and a major key to staying motivated is to understand your thoughts and how they drive your emotions. By mastering your thought process, you learn how to nurture motivating thoughts and how to replace negative ones (thought replacement) in order to create a viable platform to activate motivation.
Develop positive thoughts
Statistics show that the average man thinks 87% negative thought and that means that the average man only thinks 13% positive thoughts, imagine if the statistics was switched around to where the average man thinks 87% positive thoughts and 13% negative. Knowing that negative thoughts bring negative result then the need to learn the art of thought replacement is very important. When a negative thought manifests, replace it with a positive one, literally.
Keep a positive attitude
This is one powerful key to staying motivated. The facts don’t matter, but your attitude towards the fact is what matters. The fact that you do not have $1Million in your bank account right now does not matter, what matters is your attitude towards that fact, which could be that you are focusing on the activities that will bring you the expected result, in this case activities that will bring you $1Million. Another example is this, the fact that you added 50 pounds in weight does not matter, while it is a fact, but your attitude towards this fact in acknowledging the problem and working day by day to lose those pounds is what matters the most. Lastly, the fact that you lost your job does not matter, it is the fact, but the attitude here is not to let that “fact” weigh me down and keep you unmotivated, but to pick up your resume and with great attitude go job hunting.
Affirmations are powerful techniques which when used can enhance one’s self esteem, boost self-confidence and image. These could be general affirmations or biblical affirmations. They are words that are professed with belief and consequently, is transmitted to the mind which acts out the words professed. The mind feeds on information given, be it positive or negative and I personally use positive affirmations even until today, to keep myself motivated, to remind me of who I believe I am and so on. Examples of such are: I am not giving up; I have what it takes to be successful. I have been made in the image and likeness of God and there’s no failure in me. And like T. Harv Aker will say, I have a millionaire mind. The more you make these professions and the likes, the more you believe it and as a result the mind device means to accomplish it. In addition, listen to a lot of inspirational messages and read good books.
Guard your circle of influence
Indeed your circle of influence determines your level of motivation and whether or not you stay motivated long enough. To keep your motivation up, you want to hang around people who feed into you positively, people who have the same goal as you or people with like minds.
Find a Passion and grow it

Ultimately, it is important to remember that life is a journey and in a journey, there are the unexpected turns hence it remains inevitable that you will encounter periods of low energy and motivation, the good news is that you are not alone, so many people including myself have been faced with moments of low energy and motivation when a goal seemed so elusive and unattainable, when it seemed like the world was caving in, when you feel discouraged knowing that the life that you have found yourself to be living is not the life you imagined.
